3D Scanning

Turn existing parts and components into accurate digital 3D data for design, manufacturing, inspection, and reverse engineering.

We provide 3D scanning services using the Revopoint MetroY Ultra 3D scanner. The scanner allows us to capture the shape, dimensions, and surface details of existing parts and convert them into digital 3D data.

Our 3D scanning service can be used for individual components, prototypes, replacement parts, fabricated assemblies, and other small to medium-sized objects.

Our 3D Scanning Services

Reverse Engineering

We can scan an existing part when drawings or CAD files are not available. The scan data can be used as a reference for rebuilding the part in CAD, modifying the design, or manufacturing a replacement.

Parts & Components

3D scanning can be used to capture complex shapes, curves, holes, edges, and other geometry that can be difficult to measure using traditional tools.

Scan to CAD

Scanned geometry can be used as a reference for creating or updating CAD models for manufacturing, design changes, or future production.

Prototypes

Existing prototypes, handmade parts, and modified components can be scanned and brought into a digital workflow for further development.

Inspection & Comparison

Scan data can be compared with an existing CAD model to help identify dimensional or shape differences between the manufactured part and the original design.

Digital Documentation

Parts that do not have drawings or digital models can be scanned and archived for future reference, replacement, or modification.

Equipment

We use a Revopoint MetroY Ultra Series 3D scanner, designed for detailed scanning of small and medium-sized parts.

The scanner uses blue-light laser and structured-light scanning technology and provides multiple scanning modes for different surfaces and geometries.

Depending on the part and project requirements, scanning can capture detailed geometry for use in engineering, prototyping, reverse engineering, and manufacturing.

Scanning Size & Accuracy

We can scan small parts and medium-sized components ranging from approximately 10 × 10 × 10 mm up to 2 × 2 × 2 m.

Using the Revopoint MetroY Ultra, we can achieve:

  • Single-frame accuracy: up to 0.015 mm
  • Single-frame precision: up to 0.01 mm
  • Volumetric accuracy: 0.015 mm + 0.04 mm × L (m)

Actual scan accuracy may vary depending on the size, geometry, surface condition, and scanning setup of the part.

This makes 3D scanning suitable for small mechanical components, fabricated parts, prototypes, replacement parts, and medium-sized assemblies.

What We Can Scan

Typical projects may include:

  • Machined parts
  • Fabricated metal components
  • Brackets and supports
  • Castings
  • Plastic components
  • Prototype parts
  • Replacement parts
  • Curved and irregular surfaces
  • Existing components without drawings
  • Parts requiring design modifications

If you are not sure whether your part can be scanned, send us a few photos and approximate dimensions.

File Formats

Depending on the project, scan data can be prepared in common 3D formats such as:

STL, OBJ, PLY, 3MF and other formats as required.

For reverse engineering projects, we can also use the scan data as a reference for creating manufacturing-ready CAD geometry.

From Existing Part to Production

3D scanning can be combined with our other manufacturing services.

We can help with the process from an existing physical part through scanning, CAD development, prototyping, machining, fabrication, and final production.
